Richard Shilts

Director, Division of Market Oversight, Commodity Futures Trading Commission

Richard Shilts is the Director of the CFTC’s Division of Market Oversight. In his lengthy career at the CFTC, Mr. Shilts has served in numerous senior management roles. He has played a key role in many Commission initiatives and in policy formation. In addition, the Division provides policy advice to the Commission on all matters related to the oversight of regulated futures and swaps exchanges and issues related to derivatives trading and reporting in the U.S. to ensure that the Commission’s regulatory programs reflect evolving market conditions and do not impede competition. Mr. Shilts has Bachelors and Master Degrees in Economics from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
